Hi - I am popping in from Sept. 06. I actually accidentally clicked on Sept. 05, but then saw this post. This is something I have been researching a lot.
My daughter was 1 on 9/23. At our last pedi visit on Wednesday - our Dr. wanted to give the MMR. I spoke about my concerns and I asked if I could get three seperate vaccinations and she said absolutely. So - that is an option. I am still waiting a little bit - but I do plan on seperating them. Don't let them tell you that is not an option - it is. Good Luck! I know what a tough decision this is.

Has Cameron had the MMR?
I really wouldn't worry about giving it to Ben if it's something you want him to have. Now that he's 2 and such a healthy boy, without family history and all sorts, I don't believe that the vaccine is something that would cause it but rather more bring it out if it was already there. If Ben is showing no signs of autistic behaviour whatsoever, I'm sure he'll be just fine. My boy had it probably at his 18 month vaccinations and is thriving today. He'll be 2 tomorrow! Just remember, you don't HAVE to vaccinate him, so if it really freaks you out, just don't do it. There are many people who don't vaccinate, and their kids turn out just fine too. I only chose to because I figured it's just a few shots, and I had them all growing up, my family has all had them, all the new babies and toddlers have had them and it didn't seem to do any harm to any of their kids. My family is dominant in boys too, with 14 great grandchildren only 4 are girls. And all the boys have had full vaccinations at regular appointments, no one has held off til after two. All of them are wonderful, happy healthy boys. If that helps at all!

Thanks for replying ladies.
Danno - no, there is no family history of Autisim but there is soooooo much information out there (good and bad) regarding vaccines and you just don't know who to believe. I know there's a positive and negative to everything but if something were to happen to him I would lose my mind!!!!! I'm driving myself crazy! Especailly since Autisim is higher in boys than girls.

Hi Ladies!!!
Ok, so Ben had his 2 y/o well visit last week. It went well - 35 1/2 in, 28 lbs.
I STILL haven't gotten him the MMR shot. I was sick to my stomach for the last few weeks and I just couldn't do it. I was crying in the doctor's office because I am just so confused and don't know what to do. She said that I'm getting anxious over nothing. The shot does not trigger Autisim. She said Ben is healthy and doesn't show any signs that would be of a concern for Autisim.
Now, I asked her if I could get them separated and she said, "Good luck trying to get them because I don't know where you can find them separate." I've heard that the Dr. writes a prescription and you can get it at the pharmacy. She told me to go to the Health Department and see if they can help me and they would also have to administer them to Ben because she doesn't do it.
I'm a little bothered by her unwillingness to do this for me just to ease my mind. Now I'm thinking of just giving it as the combo to avoid the hassle. But I could never live with myself if something were to happen or he changes because of it! I'm so upset and nervous I just don't know what to do!!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks.

Lukas has had them all, no side effects or anything and seems to be doing well, he had them on the 5th of april, I wasn't too worried about anything, either way it's a risk right? get the vaccine you risk one thing, don't get it, it's another.

I am delaying all of Ian's shots until 2 years old. He stays at home with me, so he is low risk. I WILL get all the shots, just on a delayed time-table.
Attempting to explain the gift of FAITH to someone who has not been touched by God is like attempting to describe the world's greatest Cabernet Sauvignon to someone who does not have the gift of sight, the gift of smell, or the gift of taste. They might, on some level, acknowledge the possibility of its existence, but they will never be able to fully acknowledge, comprehend, or accept its truth in all its complexity.

Hi Ladies,
Well, our little ones have turned 18 months already!
I'm curious to know how many of you have gotten the MMR shot for your baby. They usually give it at the 15-18 month well visit but I still haven't had Ben get it. I'm waiting until he's 2 y/o.
I know it's been proven that Autism is not triggered by this shot but I'm still nervous. Anyone feel the same way? Or those with older boys, what did you do?
Thanks so much!
