I started potty training my son a month ago! when he gets up he goes and sits on the potty. he is wearing big boy pants"pull ups" which he loves way more than dipers and it is no fight to get them on!!! so at least once a day he goes poop on his big boy potty we just try to catch him when he goes off by hiomself... we say do you have to go potty? and he runs straight to his potty! havent worked on going pee yet I am scared he is gonna revert straight back to wanting dipers when the new baby gets here!

I was thinking I won't start with Shaylee until the weather gets cool again. That way we're not going to be outside so much and it's easy access to the potty.

We're still holding off on potty training jake. He likes to sit on the potty (with his pants on) but won't sit there with his pants off. His brother is arriving in nine weeks, so we're leaving it until he's closer to 2 at least. I've known some LO's that really like their diapers and want to "help" with putting on new ones but have no interest in potty training. Generally kids will give you some signs that they're ready to start potty training such as asking to go potty or realllllly hating wet diapers.

I agree with Susanne. There are too many changes going on right now. The move and the new babies might make your little one take a few steps back and not progress forward. It tends to happen when a new baby comes along. It's their way of dealing with big changes like that. Just hang in there and try later. Good luck with the twins!

Susanne,
two nights ago Imogen started crying when I asked her to come out of the bath. finally I gave up and I went to pick her up and she pooped right there in the air!! it was so sad and so funny at the same time ;-)
we quickly got a potty and are starting the training right away...

Dylan has not pooped in the tub the last couple nights . He isn't interested in the training potty other than trying to carry it around so I think we will keep talking and reading about going to the potty. I will look for a Sesame Street board book about potty training. He loves that show.

I think Emerson might be ready to try it. She has been telling us when she goes #2. It is so cute. She will walk over, grab at the back of her diaper and say "poop". Sure enough...she went. She hasn't mastered telling us pee yet. I'm not going to push it, just take it slow.

I just bought the training potty today. It is one that can be used on the regular toilet as well. Dylan is almost 17 months old and the last three nights he has pooped in the tub during his bath. Halfway through his bath he squats and does his business. It seems like he is ready. What does everyone think?

I've started potty training with Kayla a little bit, but not really pushing it. I only do it in the mornings when I use the bathroom when we wake up and then when I get her ready for a bath. I strip her down, put her on the big girl potty (with a toddler seat or whatever put on top of it) and let her try to go potty while the tub fills up. She sits there for a minute or two then when she gets tired of trying, she hops down and gets in the tub. She's only gone potty like 2 or 3 times, but I'm not too worried about it right now.

I slowly started potty training Sasha when she was around 6 months. She pees in her little toilet, but refuses to poop in her toilet. She knows the sign for potty, but usually uses the sign after she has already done her business.
I found that going pee the same time Sasha goes on her little potty, makes it more fun for her. Because I tell her that Mommy is going potty also.
Sasha knows that she should go potty in the toilet, but I don't force her, because then she'll probably revert.

I got Mady the Royal Potty for xmas. She keeps trying to take her diaper off...even now that we switched to pull-ups. She loves sitting on her potty and does the squatting thing too. She likes mimicking me when I "go". Not that I actually go I just sit there on the big potty and let her sit with her diaper off. She hasn't gone yet either, but I think sooner is better than later for me.

UGH, I'm dreadng it because I will have a newborn in less than 3 months and we still have to get her used to the Big Girl room and off her 2 bottles. Taking the one away was easy and the paci but these last 2 I fear will be tough. There will be so many changes in her life once Sienna gets here so I'm going to wait until I have a good routine down! I will probably start at about 22 months, well I hope:)

I have one of the little seat adapters, and every time I'm getting Lukas' bath ready, I just plop him up on it, and he's never done anything in the toilet, but he sits there happily and either flushes the toilet or unrolls the toilet paper, lol, but I'm just trying to get him not to be afraid of the toilet like my niece was, she was terrified of it! The funny thing is, I can sit him on there for 10 minutes, take him off and he instantly pees in the tub, *sigh*
oh well, he'll get it when he gets it!

My mom keeps saying that I should start with Ella, but I feel like it's a little early still. I work outside of the home which I think complicates things a little, so I think I'll at least wait until she's two to start.

I was just wondering if any Sept Mommies have thought about toilet training yet. I'm not sure when to start trying. Emerson now squats when she goes #2 and sometimes will try to hide. I was thinking about skipping the little potty all together and starting her out on the regular one with a seat adapter.
