Baby Shower Food Ideas:
The ideas you already mentioned sound great!!!
SIL did subway party tray with ham/cheese and chicken salad sandwiches.
MIL has made those herself with those big tubs from SAM's Warehouse of chicken salad, tuna salad or pimento cheese and made sandwiches.
SAM's also has a pre-cooked brisket that is really GOOD and all you have to do is heat it up! You can also pick up potatoe salad and cole slaw (or other sides) in large containers.
Brother's MIL made candybar wrappers to recover with memerable info/quote and picture of the guest of honor.
She also made a personalized cookie individually wrapped for each guest with baby's name-to-be. She uses printable eatable sheets that just lay on a layer of icing on the cookie or a cake. Too cute!
Index cards or note book for each guest to write down important info for the first time mommy. (My british friend got a warning about bathing baby boys in kitchen sink and keeping thawing chicken for dinner protected at ANY distance because they can pee far! LOL!!!)
The host gave pre-stamped thank you notes for the guest of honor.
Instead of disposable paper decorations I've seen the host find great buys on nursery theme items like cute bookend/picture frames and teddy bear. Then after the party and gave them to guest of honor as gifts.
OH! Picture frame with large extra matting for everyone to autograph!!! Then take it to the hospital for visitors there to sign too! We love this for Joshua and plan to repeat for Michael.

Sister and best friend are doing my baby shower.. My sister is a les.. so shes new to this whole baby shower hosting thing.. and Lacey has 2 kids, but shes not accustomed to hosting such events.. Any tips?? Ideas?? Fun stuff you did.. wish you did.. have seen done? This isnt all a bad thing.. I get to have some input because they arent real sure on things..
I did see a recommendation for giving a book instead of a greeting card.. and was supplied with some poems to put on the invites to tell people.. My parents and sister read to me.. and I think its important.. so its something Aaron and I agree is good to pass on to baby.
Any food suggestions?? (my family doesnt show up to any events unless there is food involved!) I am inviting about 50 people (friends and family) I doubt many of the out of towners show.. but I have to do what is right and proper and invite them anyway.. There will be little people present. I was thinking cheese, sausage, cracker tray, fruit, veggies and dip, lil smokies, punch, pop or tea. Another one of the girls on the May board said shes doing a taco bar/buffet.. I dont think that would be tough to do.. just cut up veggies and cook the meat.. make some mexican/taco rice. Might actually be cheaper to do that than all of the trays of stuff, plus people would actually fill up. (its going to be at 3 in the afternoon). Of course we will have cake.. I'm thinkin half white.. half red velvet (Aaron and I's favorite)
