Mines tend to drop very slowly a few days before periods (98.4 to 98.3, 98.2) and drastically on the day before my periods (97.5). As a pregnancy symptom what you are looking for is not to be at the same level as most DPO days (98.4) but to be even higher (e.g., 98.7, 98.8, etc). Good luck.

It could be an implantation dip... You can have that at DPO 6-9 and then the temp rise aagin just like if you ovulated again. That's a good sign... Could be successful implantation and pregnancy.

In order to be accurate you need to check it right when you wake up, before you get out of bed. This should be the same time everyday (give or take 20 min.) If you sleep in an hour late or wake up an hour early it will change due to the time difference and if you walk around first it will change as well. I think you need 5 hours of sleep in order to be accurate as well so if you get up to get a baby then only get like 2-3 hours of sleep it will be harder to see a pattern and such.

So did yall have to check your temp at a certain time a day and what is the best time to start checking?

I have been charting 5 years now. I got so good and knowing my cervical mucus signs that for a while I stopped checking my temp because I was charting for birth control but recently started again because I am charting now to conceive. I never dropped temp before AF always on the day of. My temp always varies a bit from day to day so before ovulation it bounces between 96.6 to 97.1 and after ovulation from 97.5 to 98.5.

Good luck. If it is your first or second month it will take about 3 months to see your bodies pattern. So it is kind of just guessing at symptoms before that. Try to trust the data.

i charted (TTA) for just about two years (after going off BCP) before i got this BFP. i usually had a temp dip (i've read that this is due to a second surge of estrogen) around day 8 of my LP (and by dip i mean it would eitehr be right at or below my CL) and then temp would drop again the day before AF showed up (i had about an 11-day LP). same thing happened when i got the BFP except no second temp drop and no AF. hope that helps! :)

Yes, a drop while temps are rising is called a "fallback rise" and is fairly common. There's NOTHING wrong with this. :)

98.1 should still be WELL over your cover line. Your temps will sometimes bounce around a bit. It's okay. You're looking for overall trends of data, not just 1 day on a chart.

It was very quick for me. Usually not more than a day before AF showed up. I had a short LP though (10 days) so I don't know if that made any difference.

Personally mine usually start to drop anywhere from 2-4 days before AF starts. So as early as 10 DPO (not the norm) or as late as 12 DPO. Generally I have some kind of advance warning but not everyone does. Most of the drops I've seen have been 12-14 DPO for a "standard" luteal phase.

My temp drops either the day before AF, or the day of AF. I've had them stay high for 16 DPO before.

Oh believe me I have been POURING over all those charts on FF but just wanted to personally double check. I've read that the temp is supposed to drop one or two days before AF so so far so good. My temps haven't been erratic during my LP except for that one big dip on 6 dpo. The rest of the time they have stayed .1 to .2 degrees apart. Guess we'll see. Man patience is not one of my virtues :)

I'm a first time charter as well so I don't have much to offer. I'm 13 DPO and my temps are still up. However, I tend to have a long luteal phase: 15-17 days. Fertility Friend is free, so you can sign up any time. You don't have to enter all your chart data for this month but once you're registered you can go to their chart gallery and look for charts simlar to yours to see when they start dropping off. Otherwise I don't know. I've read that high and erratic temperatures are also possible during AF as well so maybe you won't see much of a levelling off? Or maybe you're pg! Good luck!

This is my first month charting/TTC and I have a question about approximately how many days before your period does your BBT begin to go back down? I am 10 DPO and my temps are still up. I ovulated on CD 26 so I am assuming that AF might show up this Sunday or Monday which would equal a 14 day LP. Just trying to brace myself for AF if she comes and by noticing a downward trend in my BBT temps might soften the blow but so far they are still well above my cover line. I had a .6 dip from 98.1 to 97.5 (my coverline is 97.5) in my temp 6 dpo and then right back up to 98.1 which could have been an implantation dip but I've read mixed feelings whether those exist or not. I POAS yesterday and today and they were both BFN. I don't have many symptoms of either pregnancy or AF. I have noticed a few things but I think that is me wanting them to be there. I have been having crampy like twinges but nothing bad. Usually right before I wake up if I roll over onto my side I feel this weird kind of pulling around my belly button area or very low where I usually feel AF cramps. I also still have some creamy CM. Hungry as he*l too. Feel slightly nauseous in the morning but that very quickly goes away. No sore BB's which leads me to believe that I am not PG. I probably wouldn't even notice these things if I wasn't so hyper sensitive to every feeling right now. I am telling myself that I am not going to test again until Sunday when I think AF should be coming and that will be 14 dpo. It will also be CD 40 which will be the longest cycle I have had since going off BC the first of December. God this waiting is absolutely awful!!! I don't subscribe to FF so I can't provide you the link to my chart but I sure wish someone could look at it. Thanks for listening and sorry for the book!! :)
