I am sorry to jump into your journal... I was really bad until 20 weeks and then I was slowly able to gain strength back. It got bad again the last 6 weeks. Not as bad as before but I had to be very careful about smells and nutritional items. I don't know how bad you have it. Are you okay to read about "nutritional intake"? I don't want to write the word and make you queasy or sick.

You should go to graduation. It is an accomplishment. See if you can get a pass to park in the handicap parking from your school with a note from your Dr. Get there right when it is time to start and you can leave as soon as you start to feel icky.

You should be covered at work by disability. I was covered again by Short term disability as soon as I worked 12 weeks again consecutive. I luckily was able to work from home quite a bit during that time.

My personal email is decole_cody@prodigy.net

email me anytime. I hate writing in your journal! I however know what you are going through.

Hi Back2bee,

thanks for the website, trust me, that site is saved under favorites on my computer. It's the way I figured out that hyperemesis is what I may have.
I do have a question for you though, when did you finally start feeling better? I am supposed to go back to work in 2 Weeks and I have my college graduation in 4 Weeks and am scared as to how I'm going to feel by that time. I have come to the decision that I most probably am not going back to work, however it's (of course), extremely important for me to walk across the stage at graduation and am really nervous as to whether I will make it through the ceremony. I know everyone is different, so I won't necessarily get better at the same time, but I am just trying to get an idea of when everyone started to feel somewhat normal, and if this came back towards the end of your pregnancy?

Oh, and congratulations on the healthy baby!

Hi Tmesiti,

Before I ever got this bad, I had never heard of this either. At one point when I was doing really bad, I actually started to regret getting pregnant, it feels like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. I am glad that you are not in this same situation, it's horrible.
I don't have a doctor, only a midwife. They can prescribe medicine and do tests and exams just like a doctor can, so there really isn't anything else that the doctor can do for me. When I went to the hospital, the doctors there did the same thing that my midwife did which is give me medicine and check to make sure the baby's ok.
You know, that is the question that I actually had, I was wondering if anyone with Hyperemesis has qualified for disability. I am supposed to go back to work in 2 weeks but I'm scared that this won't go away, however I do need the money.

Hi, we have a shared experiences thread started. This is your personal Journal. I suffered from hyperemesis. I suggest you go to

www.Hyperemesis.org

They have great information and will be able to give you advice and pointers on how to cope. I am always here as well!

Good Luck! I started gaining weight at the end. I ended up gaining back 15 pounds of the 25 I lost. Not bad. Healthy Baby!

Hi everyone, I am currently 14 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I have been having severe morning sickness since I was 7 weeks, and have lost 15 lbs already. I was diagnosed with Hyperemesis about 3 weeks ago, (barely), and spent this past weekend in the hospital getting rehydrated and medicated. I am on my third medicine already, although Phenergan was working for the first week, my midwife decided to take me off of it and put me on a low dosage of Reglan because she doesn't seem to understand how bad I have it. As soon as I came off Phenergan I went back to being miserable and lost 4 lbs in 4 days with the Reglan, another midwife put me back on Phenergan but it wouldn't work anymore at which point I ended up in the hospital. I am now taking Zofran and that seems to be working ok so far (2nd day taking it), the only thing is that it makes me very very sleepy but I will take that over feeling miserable!!!! I am supposed to go back to work in 2 weeks but am scared how I will be once I come off the Zofran since I only have a week's worth of medicine. Has anyone else gone through this? or are you going through this??
