Eating for two

So often you hear that you should be eating for two but you have to remember our babies are the size of lentils and then melons not a full grown person. In the first trimester you should add 260calories per day extra and second and third 340cals so roughly about 300 calories extra a day. Any additional weight you gain postpreg is all accounted for. Also remember pregnancy is not the time to be dieting. No way. And keep in mind that if you are planning to breastfeed, breastfeeding burns an avg of 500calories so if you keep up with your 300cal intake while breastfeeding you will be burning half a pound of fat a week just by sitting there!
