Hi Becky, I have a question regarding this. I only eat pasteurized cheeses and assumed getting pasteurized goat cheese and gorgonzola is perfectly safe, but is there still some kind of risk for listeria? Particularly with gorgonzola because of the mold in the cheese? Thanks...

Goat cheese (feta cheese) is a soft cheese and a risk for listeria. You can still have it, BUT: 1. purchase goat cheese made with pasteurized milk (look for this on the label) OR 2. If not made with pasteurized goat milk, heat it to bubbly hot first in the microwave.

Before pregnancy I would occasionally eat goat cheese in my salads, but I know it's a soft cheese so I have stayed away from it so far.
Is it just un-pasteurized soft cheeses that are a no no or can I have my past. goat cheese in moderation?
