omg! I craved kimchi with my daughter, we would eat at Rick's all you can eat chinese buffet like 3 times a week and I would pile my plate with kimchi! It's so good.

I've only had it once so far with this pregnancy.. I'm living proof that it's safe, I have a healthy 3 year old after eating about a pound a week (HAHA)

Thank you so much! I am relieved to know this information. I had bought the Kimchi in a jar, preservative and MSG free from Whole Foods Market. Sounds like it should be safe. Thanks again!

Or if it was purchased in the deli, it could have become contaiminated. If purchased in a canned version, this would not be an issue.

I would assume that it is fine. I bet a billion dollars that pregnant women living in Korea don't stop eating Kimchi! Also, German women eat sauerkraut, which is pretty much the same thing and I've never heard of that being restricted.

Becky, Kimchi is the Korean version of Sauerkraut. Usually eaten cold. It's basically cabbage usually fermented with salt, sugar, garlic, chili powder, onion.

Only concern I would have is if it is store-bought you may want to check the preservative level and stay away from MSG.

Hello everyone! I am now 14.5 weeks along and would love to eat Kimchi but was worried if this bacteria-fermented Korean cabbage could contain dangers to a pregnancy? Does anyone know? Thanks!
