Maybe you just have really good abs and core muscles, so everything is held in tightly? If that's the case you may find that baby pushes up on your internal organs and e.g. your bra band size increases a couple inches, because your belly is not so big. Or you might find that you "pop" and suddenly have a pregnant shape. As long as baby is healthy, it doesn't matter! The current advice to gain 25-35lbs is just the current advice. Go back a few decades, and the advice was not to gain more than 15lbs. On the other side, some women gain 50lbs+ but find that it comes right off once baby is born, because a lot of it is fluid. Every woman is different, and as long as you are getting enough calories of a good healthy diet, you and your baby will gain the right amount for YOU.

I totally get where you're coming from. I didn't show much until about week 27, am now 36 weeks, and still have a small belly. Everyone kept telling me that I would "pop" eventually, but it hasn't happened. Some women just show more than others. :)

No you won't put on 50lbs in the next thre months...lol..I gained very little with my first son and it was like that all throughtout the whole pregnancy..I watched what I ate and he was happy and healthy. So don't worry...as long as you're eating well and taking in those extra calories, you will be fine:)

Thanks for the reply! Were you able to manage the rest of your 2nd/3rd trimester weight gain okay? That's what I'm worried about. That there's an end point that everyone gets to no matter where you started, and that I'm going to gain 25lbs in the next 3-4 months. Is it just a matter of me watching my food choices?

Hi - this might be a strange question, but... I'm 5'3" and normally weigh 120-122. So far I'm at 127lbs and am hardly showing at all. In the morning you cannot even tell I'm PG, but by the end of the day I definitely have some bloat.

What I'm wondering is does that mean that I'm going to rapidly gain weight and have my belly expand a lot over the next couple of months? My MIL was my size only gained 20 lbs and had a healthy 8lb baby by eating healthy and exercising throughout the whole PG. I've been eating pretty healthy but definitely getting enough calories every day so my body just isn't keeping the weight. My baby has always measured right where he should so I know he's fine. I'm just wondering if it's inevitable that I'm just going to get huge super fast or if I can somehow keep a manageable weight gain throughout my pregnancy.
