Have you had the follow-up scan yet? I'm still praying for you and your LO.

Well, I'll give you some good news. I think...

WHen I went for the anatomy scan at 20 weeks, they couldn't get a picture of all 4 chambers due to baby's position. Went back a week later and same thing. I debated about whether to go in again or not, because with my insurance, each ultrasound was costing $80. I ended up getting a break on the cost later in the pregnancy, so opted to go again and everything was fine.

I think that there's two things they could be saying -- that there's literally not 4 chambers, which would be a bad thing, or that they can't see all 4 chambers due to position. It sounds to me like your situation is the latter. I'd call the doc to check what they meant.

Love,
Shannon

Thanks for your honesty! I some with a friend from HS yesterday because her sisters son was born w/ a heart defect. His left ventricle never developed and he had to have a heart transplant. Hoping it is nothing but will take it one day at a time if it is....

I don't want to sound bad, but if they weren't all there, wouldn't the baby have miscarried? I know heart defects are a big reason for most miscarriages. You seem far enough along that that issue is not something to worry about. If the doctor was worried, I believe they would have stayed and kept trying for a better position. Like having you walk around for a while then trying again. I would try to stay relaxed about it, since there isn't much you can do. Try to be as stress free as you can for the baby. :)

We are very excited about adding onto our family.

So at my 18 week ultrasound they couldn't see four chambers in baby's heart, Dr. Said it was probably because he was still too young. Today at 25 weeks they still couldn't see 4 chambers and Dr. Said it was probably the position of baby... Has anyone else ever had this experience??? I keep telling myself not to worry but it's a little hard. Another ultrasound in three weeks to check again. I have had two friends whose babies had heart defects that they picked up in the ultrasounds and I am wondering if there is something more going on. Both of those babies were born one had to have a heart transplant and didn't make it. The other will have permanent issues. I know I have no control over it either way, it's probably the wondering that is bothering me more than anything. I'll love the baby no matter what!!
