Had my postpartum checkup today. The doc said that the bleeding was ok and there is no way to know if it was my period or not. It had turned into a yellow discharge after three days of minor bleed. :)

Thank you for replying! I hope I am not being too active to bring on the bleeding. I hardly go out of my studio apt, just about 2x/wk and not walking far either. The Only thing I am doing more this wk is holding my 6 wk old baby walking and dancing a bit to music to sooth her. I have no help during the day.

I will call the doc tomorrow just to be on the safe side.

I experienced this after my 3rd was born - it wasn't a period - it was still post-partum bleeding. I was being a little too active and wasn't giving myself the time I needed to heal.

Try to make sure you are allowing yourself time to rest and recover - and hopefully things will stop soon!

It might not be your period. Too much activity too soon can cause bleeding to come back, I've just never had it come back as late as 6wks.

With that said, it can be your period even while breastfeeding. Some women do get their cycle back around 4-6wks and it commonly comes back around 4-6 months. I was nursing 15 times a day on average when mine came back with #1 and about 8-10 times a day when it came back with #2. I'd just be careful as far as birth control goes, breastfeeding does not in any way prevent pregnancy. I think it's pretty rare for it to prevent cycles the entire time you are breastfeeding.

I am breast feeding though. From what I learned, I would not get a period while breast feeding. Hm....

I would suspect your period has returned already.

Hi,

It's been six weeks since I had my baby girl. I was bleeding, then it tapered off to yellow discharge. Today, I am bleeding again. Should I be concerned? I am not in pain or anything. Any of you experienced this?

Thanks in advance!
