Hormone wise the NuvaRing is the same as the pill - you can try condoms and the natural method (find out when you are fertile during the month)

I was off the NuvaRing for one month when I conceived without trying...

You can try natural family planning or condoms are an option. We used a combo of the two, we only used condoms when I knew I was fertile. It worked for about a year, we knowingly cut it too close just once and I got pregnant lol. I knew I was on my first fertile day but I was hoping we would be ok....obviously we weren't.

I've been on depo(3yrs), the patch(3yrs, the hormones are almost the same as the ring), and the pill(1yr) for 7yrs and got pregnant just 2wks after stopping my birth control. The last one I was on was loestrin 24 for about 10-12 months. It's a super low dose pill, far lower than the ring. The only issue I had with it was some spotting if I missed a pill for the first few months I was on it.

If I were you, I would just use the pull out method. You are planning on trying in six months anyways, so even if you have an oops, its only a few months early. We used the pull out method for 18 months with no problems and concieved #2 our first month trying.

So my daughter is 6 months old and I asked the doctor about non-hormonal birth control as we are going to start trying again when she's a year. He didn't want to refer my to a OBGYN to get fitted for a diaphragm as it is an "outdated" method and it would take me months to get in to see one. So he recommended the NuvaRing. I'm hesitant because my of the hormonal component in it as I feel that being on the pill for years prior to DD caused infertility issues (I conceived DD on Clomid). Anyway for those who have tried it and had a child after how long did it take for you to get pregnant and what if any side effects did you experience?

Baby #2 coming August 2013!
