The Birth Place is a good one. They're located in Winter Garden, which isn't far from Orlando. Their website is www.thebirthplace.org

I went to an orientation there when I was planning to switch to them from my OB. Sadly, I developed complications that prevented me from using a birth center. But I LOVED the people there and may try to deliver there next time around if I have a smoother pregnancy.

I'm pretty sure they accept medicaid, but you may want to contact them to be sure. (I found a PDF on their website that instructed uninsured mothers to apply for medicaid, so it's a pretty good chance they do.)

If anyone is around the Sarasota area... there is an exceptional birthing center there, called "the Rosemary Birthing Center." We just had our little one through them, and it was WONDERFUL!! I highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a special and unique prenatal, birth, and postpartum experience! More information can be found here: http://rosemarybirthing.com/

Hopefully this link will help. It will take you to the American College of Certified Midwives and they have a search where you can locate midwives and bireth centers by city, State and Zip. I found one in Sarasota FL:
Choices in Midwifery Care, Inc, (941) 927-2229, 7235 Proctor Rd, Sarasota, FL 34241
You may come up with better results using more specific searches. Good Luck!

I am trying to locate any Florida midwives or birth centers that will accept Medicaid. A friend of mine is researching her options, and I'm trying to help her out. We are looking for a NON-hospital birth.

Thanks!
