I have a history of infertility and endometriosis (battled endo since I was 14). We were put on Clomid for 5 different rounds, we went through the reproductive endocrinology department at Yale. It was explained to us that your chances of twins are 10% higher than normal pregnancies, but any chance of triplets or more drops dramatically and it's very rare to have more than twins. We ended up having to stop Clomid, however, because I am one of those lucky 1 in 10,000 who has adverse reactions and it kept landing me in the ER with hyperstimulation.

So we were switched to stomach injections along with a trigger shot. On the very first round, we had 7 mature follicles, and ended up pregnant that same round with only a singleton even though the chances of multiples are dramatically higher than that of Clomid.

Hey gals- I have heard the same from others who are clomid users- it ups your chance of muiltiples but doesn't mean you're guaranteed.

Congrats on all the new babies- one or two or more!

I asked my doctor this question a few months ago, and she told me that it raises your chances of a having twins to about 10%, but that it does not normally result in triplets or more.

Thank goodness I did not opt to take the clomid. I ended up conceiving a few weeks later the "old fashioned way"...We found out yesterday we are having twins!!!!!

I was on Clomid to conceive my second. I know it increases your chance of twins, not so much triplets. I did not have bad side effects. The only one was night sweats. Emotionally, I felt fine. Oh and yes - I had just one baby!

I was recently to my OB/GYN and she said the chance of multiples while taking Clomid is 1 in 10! 1 in 3 in having triplets or more.I go on June 3rd to start Clomid and im nervous.I've heard alot of bad things about it.What is your opinion on it?

I had a bit of a scare yesterday afternoon. I was sent for an ultrasound to confirm the baby was in my uterus. It was thankfully, and there is only one yolk sac! It measured about 5 wks. But no change from the Md, he is still saying I am 6 weeks. Next u/s Aug 15. I am very excited! The baby had a heart beat already!

Georgia, I wouldn't worry too much. All of the multiples in my family are naturally occuring (no fertility drugs involved, not even with the quints!) I too had the irregular cycles, and being a twin myself, the odds go way up, but I have 2 singletons, one after clomid.

I am going to go on Clomid in August - I have a history of irregular periods w/ no ovulation (I only have about 1-2 cycles per year). I was VERY lucky to get pregnant with my DS. I have twins in both sides of my family. But I'm more worried about higher multiples. I've seen some stories where a woman is like me and just doesn't get her periods and she takes clomid for a month and then finds out she's expecting quintuplets...Yikes!!!

I was on clomid, and ended up with a singleton, even though multiples run in my family. I am a twin, I have twin, triplet, and even quintuplet cousins, twin aunts & uncles, and even my grandparents were twins.

I took clomid and I only have one baby in me. I think the chances of multiples only increases by 7% or something like that. Do multiples run in your family? That may increase your chances.

Hello,

I am not aware of any mothers that have triplets on babyfit. I think that chance of having triplets is low, but that would be pretty incredible.

Take Care,
Samantha

I was wondering if there was anyone on babyfit who took clomid and found out they were pregnant with triplets or more?!? Thanks!
