Yeah, with my first I had him 6wks early, then w/my second I remember losing my mucus plug, but it was more like a brown color, that was prob 1-2wks before labor, it's hard for me to remember cause it was ten yrs ago, LOL I feel like a new mother all over again... I jst know that there is not much room left for him to move and he actually hurts me when he squirms around, and the backaches are awful, evryone I talk to doesnt think that I'll wait until Feb 5th, plus Ive had no weight gain for 2 1/2 full wks, maybe hes grown to the max that he will, who knows, Happy new year to everyone!!!

I began losing my mucus plug about a month before Will was born...never had the bloody show though. My water broke on its own though. Yuck. That was the WORST feeling. Like I was completely incontinent.

I started losing mine about 2 weeks before I had my daughter. I only lost about a quarter size one time and then never saw anything else. My Dr. always told me it meant I was close(anywhere from hours to weeks) but being 38 weeks along I could have guessed that!!

Good luck to everyone that is due soon. It really is a wonderful experience.

Well I saw this post and it was funny because I had gone to the BR this morning and I noticed a thick jelly like substance the size of a dime on the TP,but the color was yellowish green/clear, I had preterm labor two wks ago and they stopped it, Ill be 35 wks on Sunday, there was no blood in it so we will see, I guess labor could still be wks away?????If anyone has anything to add that might help I would appreciate it, thanks

I actually had bloody show w/ my last preg. It happened early in the morning and I was scared so I called my doc. He told me what it was but thought it was a little early because I was only 36 weeks, but that afternoon I felt the pop and my water broke that same day, Faith was born at 11 that night.

Hi everybody! 10 days before my due date, I was at work, walking around and thinking "I really need to sit down for a while" and I felt a little "pop" down there. I think that was my mucous plug. On my way to the bathroom to check, my water broke and gushed everywhere, and Audrey was born less than 12 hours later!

I just had my bloody show this morning!!! I am SOOO excited. So I am sure you are also! :)
Here is some info I found:

What it is: "Bloody show," a pink- or brown-tinged stringy mucus discharge, is a sign that your cervix is dilating and/or effacing. This is a definite signal that you’re well on your way towards labor and delivery.

What causes it: This "passage" means the blood vessels in the cervix are rupturing as the cervix begins to open up. (This is a good, normal thing.)

What you need to know about it: If you’ve experienced the bloody show, you can usually expect to go into labor within the next several days — unless you’re a fast starter, in which case you could be going into labor within the next several hours. (Nice and predictable, right?) In general, though, bloody show means you can hurry up and wait. And you won’t know for sure that labor has arrived until you feel those first real contractions. So when you see that bloody show, get ready — but don’t head out the door just yet.

What my story isn't good enough???!!! J/K.

It should also be about a half cup to a cup, when it's real show. I was shocked and appalled to see that my midwife wasn't lying!

With DD#1 - I lost my mucous plug (or had bloody show) just after 38 weeks. My doctor had stripped my cervix on Friday, on Monday during the day, I used the restroom and when I wiped it looked like a big chunk of bloody mucous. The chunk was about the size of a quarter.

This is the grossest way of describing it - but it was kind of like I had blown my nose when I had a very bad cold and had a bloody nose.

My water broke the next night and I had the baby on Wednesday morning.

As long as it's relaxed hope then you might actually make some progress. You are further along than I was and I went into labor the day after I was due (got checked on the 19th had her on the 21st). Good luck. I think bloody show is better than just losing your plug(clear mucosy stuff). Atleast thats what I have read. *labor vibes*

That's what it is. A bloody mucosy discharge. Are you having contractions at all. It is okay to lose it,and some people lose it several times before labor. Bloody show does usually mean that labor is soon. but soon is different for everyone.

I'm overreacting, I know - but I just had some pink on the toilet paper for the first time in this ENTIRE pregnancy. It's pink and slimy, kind of mucousy. There wasn't too much but it happened when I peed twice. I haven't had ANY bleeding at all and I've had a few pelvic exams during the pregnancy. No bleeding even after sex. Is this bloody show? What exactly does bloody show mean?

Just for info, 2 weeks ago I was dilated to 3cm and 1 week ago I was dilated to almost 4, 50% effaced, baby at station 0.
