4 year old with overactive bladder

My 4-year old daughter has bouts of nighttime wetting, but usually it's tied to a period of being sick or really tired. During the day, she's fine, though she will sometimes go 3-4 times in an hour (only during quiet time though so it's more of an entertainment than anything at that point).

Does your son pee a lot each time or small amounts frequently? It could be a physical problem, which is probably what the doc will want to rule out first. It's possible he's having trouble emptying his bladder completely and that's why he's going so frequently. Or he could have a urinary tract infection or kidney infection. Usually with either of those you would also see a fever, but I'd imagine they'll send a culture out just to be sure.

Has your son had any big changes in his life lately (keeping in mind that it may be big to him, but not seem that big to you)? Sometimes just a change in schedule or caregiver can throw a kid off for a while. Sometimes it's bigger things too. My nephew was almost 5 when his mom died, and then he and my brother moved in with my parents. My brother was basically very selfish and would be out till all hours of the night with his "girlfriend" and when his son would wake up he'd be scared. It was a very tough time for him, and he did start wetting the bed at that time despite having been trained for a while.

I hope you can figure it out soon because I'm sure it can be very frustrating for you and your son. Please keep us posted on what you find out.

Ok, I know most of us are on here cause we are either pregnant or just had a baby. BUT, I wanted to know if any of you have a 4 year old that has a very active bladder? My son was potty trained by 3 and was doing so well. A few months ago, he started wetting his pants and the bed while he slept. He says he can't feel when he needs to go to the bathroom. I tested him the other day. When we woke up in the morning I let him empty his bladder. I gave him a glass of water and he had to pee 4 times in less than 40 minutes. Is that normal? Twice he went in his underwear and the other 2 in the toilet. I am constantly reminding him to use the toilet and before you know it, he's already wet.
I don't punish him anymore cause I really think he has a bladder problem. My mom, sister, cousin and aunt have the same problem. Maybe it runs in the family.

Just wondering if any of your Preschoolers have this?
I have to put Pull ups on him to go to school cause I don't want him to feel embarrassed if he accidentally wets his pants. Usually he comes home dry. But just in case, I do it.

Any suggestions? Im taking him to the doctor on Friday.
