We are expecting a boy. We've picked out Nicholas Edward. Supposedly Nicholas is greek and means "Victorious People". Edward is old english and means "Guardian of Prosperity" We chose these because actually my grandmother passed away in October and her maiden name was Nikola, so I chose Nicholas as a somewhat tribute to her memory. For a girl we picked Kirsten Shayn, Kirsten means anointed one and Shayn means beautiful.
For a boy we picked Owen Daniel, Owen means well born and Daniel means God judges.
We had the names picked before we knew the meanings. My parents didn't like them, and I actually thought of changing the names, but then I looked up the meanings and decided that there was a reason we picked those names, so the grandparents will have to deal with it! :)

Ophelia- means to be helpful. But the baby name books also talks about Ophelia coming from Shakespeare's Hamlet. We're great fans of Shakespeare, so we both agreed to the name when we saw it.

Nathaniel means gift of God (and he truly is). His middle name, Augustus, which is my dad's name and a name that goes back in my family to the 1600s means venerable.
Isabelle means consecrated to God. Her middle name Sophia means wise.

I was looking up the meaning to the names that my lubbie and me picked out for our little girl. Just thought I would share w/ all of you and see if you knew the meanings behind your baby's name.
