Mine was hell after my water broke.. but then again I was on pitocin too..
Basically.. that bag of water helps cushion your body from the contractions.. theres no cushion.. its gonna hurt..

my water broke and I was still only 1 cm! 8 hours later only a 3. was stuck at the hospital the entire time because they worry about infection. I finially got picition to start up some real contractions.. or I might still be sitting there waiting.. lol! :)

When your water breaks it is not always a big gush. When mine broke I sat in the car and a TINY bit came out. I thought I peed but went to the bathroom and nothing came out. I started driving and continued to have TINY bits on liquid come out. You can tell its coming out of your vagina and not your pee hole. lol :)

It sounds like sweat, or my MW says it could be just a lot of discharge towards the end of PG. I have only had my water broken, and even then it is a HUGE gush or it may be a lot of leakage. I totally thought mine broke yesterday too. Sta

ok, well, STILL sounding stupid.... My girlfriend came over a little while ago. It was 87 here today so I was changing into some shorts when she arrived so I just threw on the shorts, no undies, since she was walking through the door. Well, we stood in the kitchen talking for a while and I felt very wet "there", but thought I was just sweating, then I felt a drip.... again possibly sweat. When she left I went to go pee and I had a huge wet mark on my shorts... You know the "dilation chart" and they show you how big it gets... the wet mark was THAT big... But I'm not having huge contractions... just little sporadic ones. Don't you continue to leak after?? I'm wearing undies and watching it but if you cont to leak, how much comes out at a time?? Sorry I know I sound clueless but I just want to make sure. It was probably just sweat (EW!!) (sorry!) but I am a little nervous.

That is true. But it also depends on the Dr. whether they will induce or not. My water broke and I did not start regular contractions I had to have something on my cervix and also pitocin because my cervix stayed at 3 cm forever!

They can do either, but my MW says they do want to wait more than 24 hours after water breaks to induce if contractions are kicking in. I only know that because I thought my water broke in the shower(of all places) yesterday, I had to go get checked, but it didnt break, I gues my boy was just playing hockey with my bladder I was pretty embarrassed. Any who only like 10% of womens water breaks.

Ok, this is going to sound absolutely ridiculous to some of you, but I'm curious.... Do contractions ALWAYS get bad right after your water breaks or can they gradually progress.... Meaning can they be mild still and not regular or do they go right to awful and regular once your water breaks??
