I have two boys with ASD, both who also have SPD. First, even if your child doesn't need speech therapy, you can find speech therapists who work with feeding issues. My youngest has a very limited diet and has been working with an excellent therapist..they work on just touching foods, cutting up food, smelling, etc. My oldest is really resistant to long clothing like pants and long sleeved shirts. He is always pulling them up. Brushing is a great tool for this too. It seems very overwhelming in the beginning, but once you get started with some stuff it will all come together!

My 4 year old daughter hasn't been diagnosed yet, but I have been given a referal by a pediatrician we see for an OT.
My daughter is always sick. For the last year I have had everything looked into. Eyes checked, hearing, tonsils and adnoids. She is a big snorer and will acually stop breathing a few time through the night. We recently went to a ENT and they said she could have her tonsils and adnoids both removed and tubes in her ears that will drain the fluid properly. BUt of course she was sick at her appt and they want to see her again in 3 months.
I have also heard that a traumatic birth can cause or bring about SPD. I had a seizure right before having an emergency csection with her. I would think that would be traumatizing.
If my daughter does have SPD I applaud the mommies with children who have this.

Hello, I have a 5 year old we recently found out has Sensory integration disorder as well as ADHD! He has a very limited diet as he gags with any kind of texture or temperature change. He is also not fond of certain colors or smells in his food. It has been a long battle trying to find a diagnosis and not just PICKY KID! He was sick many times as a toddler and they think this may have started his problems! Just looking for other moms with similar stories!!
