I think I lost mine this morning. And now I am having contraction. Monday I had a dr apt and she said I was 2, thin, and that she was going to try and strip my membrains. She said she was having trouble because the baby is still high. I spoke with my sis and she said that her girl was high until her water broke. Which was the same for me on the last two. Wish I knew when we will meet our bundle of joy. We are scheduled for induction on Monday.

I never noticed when I lost mine with DS. Like most of you, I just had an increase in secretions during the last few weeks (and this seems to be happening again).

TMI: yesterday i had this long stringy yellow globs after i wiped myself and then this morning after i wiped myself i had a nasty glob looked like green yellowish kind of like a big gooie nose burger. So i was wondering what it was...so i was looking up articles and here is one i found:

What does the mucous plug look like?
Some women describe the mucous plug as looking more like the mucous in your nose. It may look like a thick glob of stringy mucous, thicker than what you would see with normal vaginal secretions. If you are close to going into labor you may see pink, brown, or red blood around the edges of the mucous plug. This is called the “bloody show”.

When do you lose your mucous plug?
Some women will lose their mucous plug or part of their mucous plug weeks before they go into labor. Losing your mucous plug does not always mean labor will begin shortly. Keep in mind that even if a woman has begun to dilate, it may be weeks before she actually goes into labor. However, if you notice blood tinged mucous before your thirty-sixth week of pregnancy, notify your doctor right away. As your body prepares for labor your cervix will begin to dilate and thin. As your cervix opens up, your mucous plug may fall out. Losing your mucous plug is a good sign that labor is on its way. Though, it could be days or even weeks after you lose your mucous plug before labor actually starts. Many women do not lose their mucous plug at one time; instead, they lose it more gradually. They may notice an increase in vaginal secretions weeks before they go into labor.

I still have mine, although I too have noticed an increase in discharge. I never heard of anyone asking to have it removed either. That is interesting if they will remove it cuz I dont think it will induce labor or anything. Isnt it there only to keep bacteria and such out of the cervix?

NOKTURNOPR if you do lose it it will look like snot. That is the best way to describe it. It thick and mucus like hence the name mucus plug. I usually has a pink tint to it. And when you lose it it can mean that labor is going to start or it could mean nothing!

I havent lost mine either. I think its thinning out though, cause I've had some discharge that seems to look like it could be some of it. With my daughter I think I lost it a few days before labor. It depends on the person. Ive heard it could come weeks before or days.

I lost mine this morning. Yesterday and the day before I had some peach coloured mucous (consistency of the fertile EW mucous we had when ovulating). This morning, I had to wipe 5 times because it kept coming. It was a beige-pink colour, but not much blood at all. Now I am having lots of BH tightenings, but I've been having those for a while.
Is labour coming soon, or will I go on for a few more weeks? I'm starting to get anxious.

I don't see the need for a doctor to remove it. It's one small step in the labor process... it won't induce anything. If anything, it could (I'd imagine) only increase the risk of infection.

I say, just lose it when you lose it. :)

There are other ways to induce labor.

Pretty sure I still have mine, but it's early :)

I have also noticed an increase in discharge, but nothing drastic.

Hopefully in a few more weeks...

I still have mine. Well, I think I do. I don't recall seeing anything like it in the toilet! I suppose after the c-section it will just fall out. hhmmm - another thing to think about!

I was in labor when it happened.

Strange, but completely normal for our family. Labor and deliveries are almost immediate.

I haven't but I don't expect to until I am ready to give birth. When I had DD I didn't lose it until 6 hours before she was born and she was 3 weeks early. Everyone is different....so women lose it and can stay pregnant for a few more weeks and some will lose it when they are in labor.
