I was actually going to do this but when I talked to my OB about it I decided against it. His wife and I were pregnant at the same time and due just a couple weeks apart. So when I asked him about it he said that he and his wife had considered it but she has a sensitivity to metal so they decided it would be too risky. I told him that I was very sensitive to metal jewelry... can't wear watches, bracelets, earrings, or necklaces. I can wear my wedding ring and that is about it. So he said that they weren't doing it because they didn't think it wouldn't be cool to have an allergy/sensitivity to metal INSIDE your body and I agreed. Grrrr... why is this so complicated! LOL!!
I read about tubals and some women get heavier cramping and bleeding during their periods after it is done. Post tubal ligation syndrome they call it. NOT what I need either. Ahhh what to do what to do???

I remember reading about that at my OB office, too, Tina... they insert coils into the tubes via your "natural passage"- so no cuts on anything. ;) It takes several weeks, but the idea is your body will grow it's own scar tissue around the implants, therefore, blocking off passageway to the ovaries.

Hehee, yes, I wasn't suggesting it (ouch!) but wondered if it's technically possible. :)
No idea about the tubes tied thing. I guess it would be best to set up a consultation with your OB.

LOL, Jennie! It is technically possible... but the poor guy already went under the knife twice, so I totally understand why he doesn't want to do it a THIRD time. :-)
I am thinking about getting my tubes tied.... does anyone know what kind of anesthesia is used and what sort of recovery time?

Today is day 35 of my cycle. I typically have 30-31 day cycles. I am pretty regular, but I know that as people get ... ahem... older they can get irregular, but so far that hasn't happened to me. I was a week late before I tested positive with Katie, and the line was so light that I almost didn't catch it, had to ask for a lot of people to look at it and agree it was positive, haha. But I was only a couple days late with the others when I got positives.
When I tested this morning I watched it and as it was going up I saw the line on the test part and thought yep it is positive. Went to do something came back and it was negative. No line at all. I hope hope hope that it is true, but going to hold on to that encouragement that I got today that God knows what He is doing either way.
Until tomorrow.... I will try not to be so late with my update this time! CRAZY DAY!

Wow, I love when stuff like that happens!! Was it totally negative or could you see a faint line at all? I've always gotten the really faint lines when I first test...

Okay ladies an update! I still don't know. My test was negative but there is no sign of my period and I have all the signs of being pregnant.
Also the most surreal thing just happened. I woman I know from adoption circles just sent me a FBOOK message (she knows nothing of what is going on with me as we are just acquaintances.) Anyway she says she wants to tell me what a blessing I have been to her and how when I said on my Facebook last week that I was so glad to have Nathan and that God knew better than I did how many children should call me "mama" she thought "wow that is nice." Little did she know that she was soon to find out she was pregnant at 40 (JUST LIKE ME) and with 6 kids already (JUST LIKE ME) and it was so NOT HER PLAN (JUST LIKE ME!) but that because of what I wrote she remembered it and was able to trust God that this baby was no mistake.
SO I don't know if I am pregnant or not, but isn't that just the coolest thing that God would send me that message from her today of all days??? I wrote her right back and told her what was going on with me!! I can't wait to hear her reply!
I will test again in the morning and keep ya'll posted!!

Curious to see if you tested yet. :)
Holding you and the rest of your clan up in prayers. Everything happens for a reason. You've placed your lives in God's hands, and he's not going to let you down. You may not always understand his ways or his reasons or his timing... but when you look back on it, you always see how He was right... atleast that is how it has always been with my life.
And something else to think about... Maybe God's plans aren't for you, exactly... Maybe his plans are for this little baby. Maybe he has big mighty plans for this baby, and YOU are the child he found worthy to fascilitate those plans.
You know - the situation couldn't have possibly been worse for Mary when she became pregnant with Jesus... but yet, God had mighty plans, and his hand was on Mary the whole way...
I sort of understand where you are coming from. I was not happy at all when I found out I was pregnant this time. I wanted to wait at least another year or two before even considering another one.
I guess god had other plans for me. I'm happy now about it. I just needed the shock and everything to wear off. Big hugs mama.
I hope your test comes out with the results you want. but if it doesn't you know us ladies are always here for you!

GAH. When I went to the base they said I had to be two weeks late before they would test. Picked up a dollar store test and will take it in the morning. I am sooooo hoping that I am just having a crazy freak out moment because I am late and that I am wrong wrong wrong. However, I have started having heart palpitations again (had them last pregnancy), and my oral temp is 99. GRRR, doesn't look too promising for me to be wrong.
Maybe TMI... but has anyone else ever gotten pregnant when using condoms? We aren't aware of any breakage or anything either...????

((HUGS))) Oh how angry and upset I was when I got this BFP! It wasn't on MY time table, it isn't when I wanted it to happen. But then I thought, aren't I the selfish one! God knows what he is doing! He has a plan for this baby, for my life! Even KNOWING that it is hard to not wonder why, why now!?!?
Prayers and many hugs to you and the whole Van Clan!!

Renee, you are in my thoughts, I'm so sorry this isn't going the way you planned.
I have to say, I know how you feel. We didn't have as big of plans as you did, but we had just bought a house, were just getting our finances in order, with all of our new bills. Taylor is at SUCH an independant age and then BAM pregnant. It's hard and still to this day, I sometimes get angry with myself. I don't regret anything and I wouldn't change it for the world, we are so happy now, but it's hard. And I agree with every other poster, God does not give us more than we can handle!!!!!

and when people start asking you, "you do know where babies come from, right?" yoiu can shoot your new motto at them.
I'll use NAK from now on - great acronym

Oh Renee, big hugs! I totally understand how you are feeling! Isn't it so nice to have a place like this where you can be totally honest? There is nothing wrong with you feeling that way... it is only normal! Unfortunately, God's time table and our tables are rarely the same! So we have to learn to go with the flow and later in life we will look back and see why it happened the way it did... never fails!

LOL Teesa... I have been on other boards where they just type "NAK" and for the longest time I didn't know what it meant... "nursing at the keyboard"... a lot easier than trying to type out I am nursing or holding a baby so please forgive all my typos. :-)
Last night I was definitely in panic mode, and mad mode, and pity party mode and Mark prayed for me and it was amazing how much better I felt. Although that peace seems to be fleeting right now.
ONLY GOD GIVES LIFE. Making it my new motto.

TOP SECRET... NOTHING ON FACEBOOK PLEASE!!
Some of you know just how crazy our lives have been these last two years. Adopting Jordan and Kloe, getting pregnant right after that, house getting destroyed by a tornado... it has been just insane. God has been faithful but Mark and I are just tired. After the tornado we decided that Mark would retire from the Air Force and we would move to TN. We were soooo looking forward to moving and both of us were going to go to school. I was planning to get my RN and Mark a radiological tech degree. We were talking about how we would get to spend more time together, the pace of life would slow down a bit, we were just so excited to do this.
That brings us to yesterday when I realized I was "late". Not only was I "late" but I started putting two and two together and realizing that I was having symptoms that only happen when I am pregnant. MAJOR insomnia, some nausea, burping. I have this weird burping thing that only happens when I am pregnant. I can't test yet because I have two sick kids at home and I just can't get out to get one yet. But I am 90% sure I am pregnant. It didn't even cross my mind that this could be happening since we were using birth control.
I cried my eyes out last night after waking Mark up in the middle of the night (when I had insomnia and it dawned on me WHY). I told God it wasn't fair that we are overwhelmed and tired and that I just can't handle another baby, and I don't want to give up my dream of going to school and this couldn't be best for our family for SO MANY REASONS!!!!
The weird thing is that earlier yesterday when I had no thoughts whatsoever of being pregnant, the Chris Tomlin song "I will Follow" came on the radio. It talks about following God wherever HE leads. And I was thinking about how God had never asked me to follow Him somewhere I didn't really want to go. Right then I told God that I hoped I would still want to follow Him even if He asked something of me that I really didn't want to do.
This changes EVERYTHING. Add to that my chances of miscarriage and our lives will be on complete hold for several weeks. And I can't tell anyone else. I don't want the kids to know and then possibly miscarry.
I am so conflicted. I am just being honest. I don't want a baby. (I already have a baby!) I will be 40 in three weeks. I was ready to move on to the next phase in life. Then I scold myself because there are so many who would give their right arm for the gift of a child and here I am wishing one away. I am rambling now... but please pray (AGAIN!) for the Van Clan. I may have to take Luke to the Dr. today and I will get a test then if I do. I am pretty sure I know the result. GAH.
