what an interesting site!! lol! I myself probably wont have alot of pics of the actual birth....with my first son..there was a mirror right infront of me...so I sure saw what it looked like when he was coming out!

You know, the site actually made me more comfotable with the idea of having pictures taken during the crowning, etc. It also made me more comfortable with the idea of not having the skirt to cover my bum--drs and mws see so many butts, I'm sure they've seen one worse than mine, lol!
I'm going to want to look. But I still can't believe a baby's coming out of that tiny hole, so I want to see it for myself. Proof, lol.

Giving vaginal birth myself two other times, I still never seen our "stuff" look like it does when the baby comes out. Although, I have to say, DH thought it was cool watching our babies come out. I remember him looking at the DR, with DS #1, and saying WOW is that the head???? He thought it was the neatest thing. I of course didnt look, even though the mirror was there. It is truely amazing to see what a woman's body does during birth and... LOL... it does go back to normal!!!!

thanks to this insomnia i am still awake and was brave enough to look at the very graphic births. instead of being terrified, i am crying. birth #2 is so sad b/c the baby dies (norn at 22 wks). they show pix of her funeral and everything, even the dr cried, so sad. not for the weak at heart.

First, thank you!
Wow! I didn't bother with the modest births, I was only interested in the graphic ones. There were a few times where I had to take a moment with some of them... all the blood. And the betadine wash was awful, made it look much bloodier than it really was. But I still enjoyed looking at what I have to look forward to. I've seen babies come out before, but being able to pause over pictures gives a clearer picture of how everything's working.
I kept a couple of the 'clean' births open for hubby (no blood, so he should be okay). One's a water birth that I just thought the pictures of the baby as she came out in the water were just so amazingly beautiful and the other was the footling breech homebirth. My doctor refuses to even attempt a footling birth, so it's nice to know that there are at least midwives out there who still have the knowledge of how to deliver one. I would have opened one that reflects how I want to deliver, but they were all either blurry or bloody. Not really surprising, since it's harder to see anything from that position.

Lindsey, I feel the same way you do...for sure no cameras/video taping/unnecessary people in the room etc. BUT, i do want to mention something to you that our lamaze instructor mentioned last class which i never thought of & found interesting. And that is not to rule out use of the mirror while in labor, because sometimes seeing your crowning baby might give you the extra energy to PUSH, when you feel like you cannot push anymore. So, i just wanted to pass along that info, just in case.

There's nothing to be ashamed of - I just don't want to see it MYSELF. Bleh.

I'm not very modest at all.. I wouldn't care if the whole world saw me giving birth. I figure every woman has a vagina and breasts so whats to be ashamed of? It's totally natural
Bubba on his 1st birthday!!! ... My baby came 10/04/06 at 2:05 pm after 33 hours of labor. He was 8 pounds even, 21 inches, 14 inch head and I had him all natural with a midwife.

O M G !!! If I'd checked out that site beforehand I may not have decided to get pregnant at all!! Adoption might have been more to my liking!! But, seriously thanks for website, there's no use going around with my head in the clouds thinking that it was all going to be smooth sailing!! I needed a reality check and that sure as hell was one!!
Our first beautiful daughter, Leilani Lily, was born on October 22nd, 2006.
Our second baby was due on August 12th, 2008, but unfortunately our little baby didn't make it. I had a miscarriage in January, at 10 weeks.
New baby on the way.... EDD November 20th. Looks like I will be a Mom again in 2008 afterall! Fingers crossed x

Is it wrong that that seriously grosses me out???
I don't want anyone other than the doctor and a nurse IF NEEDED down there when I have my baby. No pictures, nothing and certainly not a video camera!! I certainly do not want to see it happening. Some people get a mirror, so they can see. omg.

Lori!
What a great idea. My DBF still thinks that he's going to be able to order pizza while I'm in labour... showing him that site might be the jolt he needs to get serious about preparing for this!
I checked out the very graphic ones as well, in fact, still reading them... another site that I might be hooked to for the next two months!

Naw I went all the way, checking out the 'Very Graphic Vaginal Births'. LOL
Great site. Thanx. I think it is very important to be completely informed.
My hubby walked in while I was viewing the pics. He nearly died! LOL
Oh he is in for such a rude awakening. Better make sure there is a stretcher for him too. lol
